Kaytee is a pet supply company based out of Chilton, Wisconsin. They sell lavender-scented bedding for rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, and rats.

We purchased this bedding for our hamster Mochi. The next morning after using the bedding Mochi's eyes were irritated and matted and she was lethargic. Her breathing seemed heavier as she slept. We took her to the vet and she was having respiratory issues. After going through a list of things that could cause the problem the vet asked about her bedding. We told him we were currently using Kaytee Lavender-Scented bedding. 

We were told to remove the bedding immediately. Lavender is a dangerous irritant to rodents. Our vet also stated that there were several Kaytee products that simply weren't safe and advised us to avoid the brand.

After bringing Mochi home I reached out to Kaytee on Facebook and they gave me a 1-800 number to call that was a total waste of time. Others began to comment on my post and it was clear that Kaytee is well aware of the dangers and has done nothing.

Kaytee is well aware of the dangers of their lavender-scented bedding to small rodents but continues to sell it. Our hamster could have died and I hate to think about how many have because of Kaytee reckless behavior. Please help us demand that Kayee take their lavender-scented bedding off store shelves before any more animals become ill or die.
